This series reveals unknown aspects of a 1950s taboo institution in a Greek society, which forced dozens of young girls into servitude, while simultaneously sowing the first seeds of the women's movement. The enslaved stepdaughters, remaining unseen, served the mansions of the aristocracy and the urban wealthy, while attempting to claim, through danger, intrigue and secrets – their self-dignity, dreams, and the right to live and love.

Set in the 1950s, the four sisters of Polizou family are forced to leave their hometown and become servants in the capital city, swearing to their dying mother that they will remain united forever. However, when they are violently separated into three different families, they will do whatever it takes to reunite. In order to achieve this, they must first survive.
